A Man of Science and the Occult

John Whiteside Parsons (1914-1952),known as "Jack," was a prodigious figure whose legacy extended far beyond the realm of science. An eminent rocket scientist, he made significant contributions to the American space program. However, beneath his scientific prowess lay a deep fascination with the occult and the supernatural.

The Rocket Man and Thelema

Parsons' scientific brilliance was matched by his unconventional beliefs. He was a fervent devotee of Thelema, a philosophy founded by the English occultist Aleister Crowley. Thelema's central tenet, "Do what thou wilt," espoused individual freedom and the pursuit of one's true will.

Jack Parsons and L. Ron Hubbard

In the 1940s, Parsons' path intertwined with that of L. Ron Hubbard, the future founder of the Church of Scientology. Together, they delved into the realms of the occult, seeking to summon supernatural entities. Their experiments, known as the "Babalon Working," culminated in the creation of "The Book of Babalon."

The Otherworldly Manifestations

As Parsons' involvement in the occult deepened, he claimed to witness otherworldly manifestations. He believed he had summoned the goddess Babalon and communicated with deceased relatives. These experiences left an indelible mark on his psyche and influenced his writings.

The Tragedy of Parsons

Parsons' life took a tragic turn in 1952. He was accused of sedition and expelled from the United States. Destitute and alone, he died in a mysterious explosion at his home in Pasadena, California. The circumstances surrounding his death remain an enigma.

Legacy of a Visionary

Despite his untimely demise, Parsons' legacy as a rocket scientist and occultist endures. His writings on Thelema and the supernatural continue to inspire followers around the world. His life remains a testament to the enduring fascination with the unknown and the blurred boundaries between science and the paranormal.

Embark on an Enchanting Journey

Unveiling the life of John Whiteside Parsons is an invitation to explore the extraordinary nexus of science, occultism, and the human psyche. His story is a poignant reminder of the enduring allure of the enigmatic and the unfathomable depths of the human experience.
