Pocahontas is one of the most iconic figures in American history. Her story has been told and retold for centuries, but the true story of her life is often obscured by myth and legend. In her book Pocahontas: The True Story of an American Legend, Susan Donnell separates fact from fiction to tell the real story of this remarkable woman.

Donnell draws on a wealth of primary sources to paint a vivid portrait of Pocahontas. She traces her life from her childhood in the Powhatan Confederacy to her encounter with the English colonists at Jamestown. Donnell also explores Pocahontas's complex relationship with John Smith, the English explorer who claimed to have been saved by her from execution.

Pocahontas's story is a fascinating one, but it is also a tragic one. She was taken captive by the English and brought to England, where she died at the age of 22. Donnell's book tells the story of Pocahontas's life with sensitivity and compassion. She does not shy away from the difficult aspects of Pocahontas's story, but she also celebrates her strength and resilience.

Pocahontas: The True Story of an American Legend is a must-read for anyone interested in Native American history, American history, or women's history. Donnell's book is a well-researched and engaging account of the life of one of the most iconic figures in American history.
